The tapering profile of the facade gives the impression that the building is a huge slide that leads to an open field of grass below, physically and emotionally connecting the two. The grass caters to an elaborate kids’ play area that spills into the courtyard through the amphitheater and a sand play area towards academic blocks.
The academic blocks, although linear and continuous in accessibility, have been arranged somewhat angularly to create an informal courtyard for gatherings, assemblies, and a basketball court in the void. The west corridor adjoining the classrooms is punctuated with coloured circular columns and fabricated railings that bring playfulness to the disciplined scene of the school’s premise.
The block was designed in a way that allowed for a varied perception of its form when viewed from different angles. As one approaches from either of the two directions of the highway, the angles and sheer length of the building blocks fill up the eye scape. But as one moves closer and comes in line with the block, the terraces and decks start taking on definition.
The opening of windows and viewing voids have been carefully given shape, color, and definition throughout the campus to break the monotony of the formal appearance and allow for a more engaging overall look of the school which somehow implies learning as a cheerful experience that will be looked forward to every day.
